I'm asking you for $500.

We don't have the money to finish this race the way it needs to be finished. Voters are filling out ballots this week. Every mailer, every ad, every canvass launch, and every paycheck for the small staff running this campaign between now and November 3 is paid for by what comes in now, and right now that isn't enough.

$500 is the most one person can give to this campaign. I'm asking for the maximum because what's left to pay for is mail, ads, and people. Mail and ads reach every voter at once. The people are a small team who have worked this race for months, and I'm not going to finish it by asking them to work unpaid. All of it costs more than any one gift, and the fastest way there is $500 at a time.

If $500 isn't possible, give what is. Every amount below pays a real bill, and it pays it this week.

I'm running a true grassroots campaign. I take no corporate or legacy PAC money, with one exception I'm glad to name: a $500 check from the teachers' union, who also endorsed me (we love the teachers!!). The rest is individual gifts, and every dollar is critical.

I wrote this website and every proposal on it myself, without consultants. Typical SF supervisor campaigns spend $12,000 to $22,000 on a website and ours cost nothing but time, so more of what you give reaches voters.
